Councillor Cohen enjoys a very good working relationship with York Regional Police, as a result of which resident complaints and local safety issues are often dealt with promptly.
- Richmond Hill is one of the safest communities of its size in Canada
- Councillor Cohen spearheaded a Town-Police Task Force that closed 32 body rub parlours
- David Cohen held many resident meetings on public safety with police attendance
- Councillor Cohen worked closely with police to improve traffic safety in the area, both in terms of introducing traffic safety measures as well as stepping up enforcement.
