- During the period when Councillor Cohen served as the Town's Budget Chair between 1992 and 2003, there was zero increase in property tax in Richmond Hill for 10 years.
- Throughout his many terms on Council, David Cohen has consistently exercised financial prudence when spending taxpayers' money. One such example is illustrated in the planning of the Bayview Hill Community Centre, a project he initiated and championed. Instead of proposing a mega project, Councillor Cohen proceeded with a phased implementation approach, adding new facilities over the years as resources permitted.
- Back in 1990, still in his first term on Town of Richmond Hill Council, Councillor Cohen spearheaded an internal audit that resulted in the arrest of a staff member who stole a million dollars from town coffers.
